Once you've got your brand identity nailed down (and don't worry, this will evolve and beome more honed over time) you can start creating a collection plan.
Step 2: Market Research and Trends
Understanding the market and current fashion trends is key to positioning your brand effectively especially if you plan to create trend led pieces. Research emerging designers, potential competitors as well as adjacent competitors (this could be larger brands doing what you want to do) study runway shows, and delve into street style to gain insights into what resonates with your target demographic. This knowledge will guide your design direction and ensure your brand stays relevant. If your products aren't going to be trend led, they should solve a problem instead; you need to give your target market a reason to spend extra money on your brands products rather than less money at a bigger brand.
Step 3: Developing Your Signature Style
Every successful luxury brand has a distinct style that sets it apart. Whether it's minimalist elegance, bohemian chic, or bold avant-garde, hone in on your signature aesthetic. This cohesive style will define your brand and attract your ideal customers. This can also become part of your USP. Always remember, if your market can buy the same product from a bigger retailer at a lower price (you're a start up, your prices will always be higher than big retailers!) you need to give them a reason to choose your brand! Some shoppers will always be more inclined to shop small but this isn't enough to sustain your brand and you want to be a successful start up fashion brand right? If you plan on designing the products yourself, do have a professional freelance fashion designer look over the styles to ensure they are structurally viable - I once had a client design a halterneck jumpsuit with no way into it! We added a zip in the back, it was all good in the end!

Tech packs are the backbone of garment production, especially for luxury brands. They contain detailed information on measurements, materials, and construction, ensuring that your designs are executed to perfection. You would never build a house without a blueprint (I mean you can but like, don't okay?!)
